An experience we will never forget

This is a captivating picture of northeast Vietnam. We invite you to discover a fantastic contrast between the gorgeous sun and sea of Halong with spectacular mountainous setting of Mai Chau.

Detailed program

Day 01: Hanoi- Mai Chau (L, D)
Depart from Hanoi to Mai Chau (Hoa Binh province) - home to many hill tribes including the Dzao, Muong and Thai. Arrive in Mai Chau around noon, check in the house on stilts belong to Mr Cuong in Van village, a village of the ‘White Thai’, who predominantly inhabit this area. Have lunch in Thai homestay. In the afternoon, take a short walk through the village of White Thai where you will be welcomed by the friendly local people, communicate and discover their lifestyles and especially try your hand in weaving silk with an old loom. The rest of the day, you will earn a chance to engage more into local life with a list of farming activities to choose from: land preparation, planting, harvesting, etc (of course these activities depend on the season).
After dinner, you enjoy a traditional dancing show at night and taste Ruou Can (Can wine), the local rice wine. Homestay overnight in Thai people's house on stilts.
Day 02: Mai Chau - Tam Coc (B,L)
After breakfast, we drive to Tam Coc (170km) also called «Ha Long bay on land».  Arrive at Tam Coc, have lunch at the local restaurant. In the afternoon, getting in a small rowing boat to discover an outstanding karst waterscape on Ngo Dong River. Tam Coc as its name means «three caves», adorned with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites of different shapes like gemstones. On rowing, you will see the peaceful scenery of rice paddies along the river banks. Rowing back to Tam Coc. The rest of day cycling in the winding roads passing lotus pond, temple and cottages, typical scenery of Vietnamese countryside to visit Bich Dong pagoda situated on a hillside. Overnight at the hotel in Tam Coc
Day 03: Tam Coc – Ha Long bay (B,L,D)
Morning transfer to Ha Long bay (180km) via Thai Binh and Nam Dinh, passing the beautiful scenery typical of Red River Delta with rice field, winding river and quaint villages. Arrive at Ha Long Tourist Wharf around noon. Embark the wooden junk. Lunch will be served while cruising to visit numerous islands and limestone outcrops rising from the emerald water. Dinner with fresh seafood prepared by our experienced chef.  A sweet night on board in your private cabin.
Day 04: Halong Bay – Hanoi (Brunch)
Enjoy the breakfast and watch the sunrise on the sundeck as the boat cruises to Luon Cave, Halong floating village then back to the habour. Our car will transfer you to Hanoi (185km). End of our service.

We had a wonderful trip to Mai Chaw, Sapa and Tam Coc. Our guides and drivers were very knowledgeable and friendly, we especially liked Mr. Qwang Do, sorry I do not know how to write his name! ). Thanks to him, we had unforgettable moments at Uncle’s Cuong homestay in Mai Chaw. And thank you all, Visit Wonders team for organizing this wonderful trip and allowing us to visit places that are not overrun with tourists. We loved the nights spent with locals. Definitely, that was highlight of our trip in Vietnam.
